Sea and Hills

THE SEA

The sea is not far from the Val di Vara as the crow flies and to reach the coast simply take the signposted roads. They are are paradise for motocyclists being immersed in a panorama which changes at every curve.

From Carrodano follow the State road for Levanto-Bonassola, and passing throughnumerous picturesque villages surrounded by olive trees ulivi, you reach Levanto: keeping to the right you reach  Bonassola e Framura; to the left , Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore, le celebrated Cinque Terre, from1997 Patrimonio dell’Umanità.

THE HILLS

The Val Vara is ideal for walking, just follow the  trails which wind through the Ligurian Apennines.

Monte Gottero, with its 1640 m above sea level, is the highest peak of eastern Liguria or Levante, a meeting point between the provinces of La Spezia, Parma and Massa "Mouth of the Three Borders".

The Gottero consists of sedimentary rock of marine origin (flysch) a sandstone which geologists have christened with the name of the same mountain.

The trail along the ridge (marked AV between two red rectangles) is stunning and the summit can be reached through beautiful beech forests from the valley floor near Sesto Godano and , St. Pietro Vara.
